Needlers

Within the membership of the Auxiliary to Cowichan District Hospital there is a knitting/crochet/sewing group called “The Needlers”.   They support Cairnsmore Place residents by knitting various articles to keep them warm and cozy–such as scarves, toques, afghans, shawls, socks and gloves.

Together we share donated yarn and new patterns as well as exchange knitting tips.   As a group we support each other as we all work toward our goal of care and comfort for residents in Cairnsmore Place.   We are very productive and are joined by non-member Friends of the Auxiliary from Arbutus Ridge, Shawnigan Lake, Crofton, Chemainus and Mill Bay.   Some of these ladies have been knitting for the group for many, many years.   All surplus articles are sold through the Hospital Gift Shop as well as craft fairs such as Christmas Chaos.  Funds earned in this way go toward purchasing equipment for the Cowichan District Hospital and services in the Cowichan Valley.

Have YOU run out of family and friends to knit or crochet for?   Are you longing to hear the click of needles or hearing “shush” that tells you someone is counting?   Then maybe you would like to join us.   You will never run out of knitting or be more appreciated.

Come along and have a coffee or tea and check us out: new members are always WELCOME!
